Wandjell Reneice, formally known as Wandjell Harvey-Robinson, is the second to youngest child of five siblings. She was born and raised in Champaign Illinois by her Mother, Father, and Grandmother. By the time she was eight years old, both of her parents were incarcerated and she was placed into foster care. It was in Champaign where she started her journey of advocacy for prison reform. In 2015, she went to Washington D.C. to lobby for lower rates of phone calls from correctional facilities. From there she continued the fight to lower the rates of phone calls from prisons in Illinois. Eventually she and the State Representative in her district were able to pass House Bill 6200 in Illinois that made Illinois one of the states with the lowest phone call rates from correctional facilities.  Her advocacy for children who are directly impacted by incarceration has not stopped and will be her legacy. The Freedom Child Foundation comes from her heart and her desire to help meet the needs of so many children who experience the trauma of having a parent who is incarcerated.
